Frequently asked questions
Do spaces count as characters?
The result shows both counts, with and without spaces. Spaces, tabs and line breaks all count as whitespace.
Why is the byte size different from the character count?
In UTF-8, accented letters take 2 bytes and emoji take 4. That matters wherever there's a byte limit, such as databases or SMS.
