How does it work?

Paste the text into the box; the tool computes MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 all at once. Everything runs in your browser — the text is never sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Are MD5 and SHA-1 still secure?

No, both are considered cryptographically broken and shouldn't be used for passwords or signatures. They're offered here for checksums (checking a file hasn't changed) or compatibility with older systems; for anything new, use SHA-256 or SHA-512.

Does case or surrounding whitespace change the result?

Yes. A hash function accounts for every character in the input, spaces included; "Hello" and "hello" produce completely different hashes.

Will hashing the same text again give the same result?

Yes. A hash function is deterministic: the same input always produces the same output, with no randomness involved.

Is my text saved anywhere?

No. The calculation happens in your browser; the text never goes over the network, which is also why this tool doesn't produce a shareable result link.
