How do you calculate a percentage?
Find a percentage of a number, what percent one number is of another, and percent change.
A percentage says how much of something there is per hundred. Three calculations cover most needs: a percentage of a number, what percent one number is of another, and the change between two values.
The formulas
Y% of X = X × Y ÷ 100 Percent = Part ÷ Total × 100 Change = (Final − Start) ÷ Start × 100
15% of 200: 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30. Going from 200 to 250: (250 − 200) ÷ 200 × 100 = a 25% increase.
