How does it work?

The tool turns every page into a picture and rebuilds it as a PDF, which is why the text is no longer selectable or searchable afterwards — this works best on scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs. If the result would be larger than the original, the original file is kept as it is.

Frequently asked questions
Can I still select the text after compressing?
No. Every page is turned into a picture and rebuilt as a PDF, so the text is no longer selectable or searchable. This tool isn't right for a document that needs to stay text.
Which compression level should I choose?
“Balanced” is a good default for most documents. Choose “Smallest size” to shrink it as much as possible, or “High quality” to keep the picture sharper.
Why didn't it shrink at all?
If the result would be larger than the original, the file is left unchanged. This usually happens with text-heavy PDFs that are already small.
Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser; the files never leave your device.
Can I compress password-protected PDFs?
No. Encrypted or protected PDFs aren't supported; remove the protection first.
